REDDING, Calif. — A community vigil is planned Saturday evening at the Sundial Bridge in Redding to remember Renee Nicole Good.

The gathering is scheduled for 6 p.m. this Saturday at Sundial Bridge Drive. Organizers described the event as a peaceful vigil focused on remembrance, grief and compassion, and said it is not planned as a protest.

According to the event announcement, attendees are encouraged to bring battery-operated candles for safety, along with “positive, loving, and uplifting” signs.

“All are welcome,” the announcement states, asking those who attend to hold the space with care, nonviolence and respect for one another.

Good, 37, was shot and killed Wednesday in Minneapolis by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, according to the Associated Press. The shooting is under investigation, and officials and witnesses have offered differing accounts of what happened in the moments leading up to the gunfire.

Organizers said the vigil is intended as “a moment to come together, to mourn, and to affirm the dignity and worth of every human life.”
